What is an AI business builder?

Short answer: an AI business builder is a category label vendors use, not a standard certification. Foundable uses Build, Run and Sell as the way to evaluate the category. Build means making something people can use. Run means operating the business for you, the recurring work after launch, starting with reaching a named audience and following up. Sell means creating a priced offer or a payment path. Those outputs can move an idea forward, but they do not prove demand, a market that wants it or profit on their own.

Definition and category boundary

An AI business builder combines AI-assisted business work around an idea. Depending on the product, that can include planning, a website or app, customer or marketing work, pricing, forecasts, or a payment path. The label does not guarantee one standard set of features, how much it does on its own, output quality or business result. Define the job first, then verify the exact capability in the product and plan you would use.

Build: require something people can use

Write the Build test before anything is generated. Name the exact page, app, offer, plan or workflow that must exist, who should be able to use it, and the minimum behavior that would make it credible. A polished preview does not pass if the intended person cannot understand, use or respond to it.

Run: require a reachable audience and follow-up

A Run workflow should name the audience, the channel, the message, the follow-up owner and the response that will be measured. Drafts and contact lists are outputs; replies, calls, signups, real use, referrals and objections are evidence from the market. Verify what the product can execute, what needs a connected account, and what still belongs to you. If a product says it runs the business for you, check what it does between your visits without being asked, what it may do on its own and what waits for your approval, and whether you can see what it did and why.

Sell: require a specific paid ask

A Sell workflow should produce a clear buyer, an offer, a price and a proposal, checkout, invoice or payment path. The existence of that path is not proof that anyone will pay. Record payment attempts, deposits, purchases, price objections and refunds separately from the pricing words the AI wrote.

Choose by the blocked stage and the control you need

Start with whatever is stuck. If the problem is an unclear product, test Build. If it is reaching people and keeping the work going, test Run. If people engage but do not buy, test Sell. Then verify who owns the domain, the data, the customer relationship, the connected accounts and the payment account, and what you can take with you or change after launch.

How Foundable fits the definition

Foundable is one product in this category, and it is judged by the same test. You talk to Ted; Ted turns the idea into a short plan. Build writes a working website with Anthropic's Claude and publishes it at its own foundable.app address. Run has Ted run the business on his own in the background, step after step, while you see what he is doing and thinking: he improves what you built, learns the business, and drafts posts and emails. In Ask first mode everything public waits for your approval; when he runs on his own, he posts to the social accounts you connected and sends email where you allowed it, and changes to your website still wait for your approval. Payments, part of Build, creates a Stripe account for your business and sells one-time or monthly offers on the published site.

What it does not do: it does not build apps for the phone's app stores. A generated page or plan is not proof of demand, and Foundable does not guarantee product quality, customers or earnings.

Limitations

A generated page or plan is not proof of demand, a market that wants it, reliable execution, profit, or legal readiness. Evidence comes from what the people you are trying to reach actually do, while security, accounting, tax, legal, accessibility and regulated-industry rules still need proper review before you rely on them.
