Foundable vs Lovable: when the work is bigger than the app

Foundable publishes this comparison and is one of the two products in it, so read it as our view. The short version: choose Lovable when the software itself is the job. Choose Foundable when validation, distribution, pricing and getting paid are the larger risks. Many people should use both.

The real job around the build

An AI app builder can turn an idea into a working first version and help you refine and publish it. That is real work done fast. The next test is whether people want what you made. A live app still needs a clear customer, an offer, a way to reach people and a reason for them to pay. Those jobs belong in the comparison alongside the quality of the software.

What Lovable does well

Lovable is a strong app builder. You describe an app or drop in screenshots and docs, and a working first version builds in front of you. Its Build mode works on its own: it looks through the project, makes changes across files, fixes bugs and checks the result, while Plan mode lets you think through the change first. Hosting and a database come with it, and the apps you publish can carry their own AI features. If you need working software with a real database behind it, Lovable will get you there quickly. Check Lovable's own pages for what it offers today; they change often.

What to compare beyond the build

Lovable also provides built-in payments, including subscriptions and one-time purchases through Stripe or Paddle. You do not have to set up every part of checkout yourself. For either product, look beyond a feature list: try the work you need to do next, such as testing an offer, reaching customers and learning from a sale. Our reason to choose Foundable is its focus on doing that ongoing business work with Ted.

How Foundable covers the loop

Foundable is built around one loop: talk to Ted, then Build, Run and get paid.

  • Ted is your AI employee, the one you talk to. You describe the idea; Ted turns it into a brief that names the customer, the offer and the first signal worth chasing.
  • Build writes a working website with Anthropic's Claude, shows you a live preview, keeps every version, and publishes it at its own foundable.app address.
  • Run is Ted running the business for you, on his own in the background, while you see what he is doing and thinking: he improves what you built, learns the business, and drafts posts for the social accounts you connect and emails to people who already know the business. In Ask first mode everything public waits for your approval; when he runs on his own, he posts, sends and puts website changes live where you allowed it, and you can undo a website change.
  • Payments, part of Build, connects your business's offers and Stripe checkout to its website, so taking a payment is part of the same workflow. Set up payments and publish the site before selling to customers.

An inbox for the business, scheduled runs, the pictures Ted makes and, on Pro and Max, his short videos round it out. Everything is recorded in one place, so the next decision is made from what actually happened.

Pricing, compared honestly

Both products offer a free starting point and paid plans. Compare the current Lovable pricing and Foundable pricing for what each includes, then check what your expected building, hosting and ongoing work will cost. Foundable's credits pay for work Ted and Build do; the current plans and usage details are available in the product.

Using both

These tools are not exclusive. Build the app in Lovable, run the business in Foundable: Ted plans the audience and the offer, Build makes the page that sells it, Run has Ted run the business and bring people to it, and Payments takes the payment. The Lovable app becomes the product behind the page.

When Lovable is the better choice

Choose Lovable when the software is the product and you already have customers, when the apps you ship need their own AI features, or when you are a product manager, designer or operator trying out a tool for your own team. You do not need a business loop for that.

Where Foundable is not the right pick

Foundable builds and publishes websites, with their own server code when they need it. On any paid plan you can take a copy of a website's code, as a download or to GitHub, where developers keep code; you are not limited to looking at a live preview. Its main job is still working with Ted to build and run a business. If your priority is a particular set of coding tools, an app for the phone's app stores or the way your developers already work, check those needs before choosing either product.

A decision checklist

Ask what is blocking you this week. If the answer is "the software does not exist yet" and the software is the product, try building it in Lovable. If the answer is "I do not know if anyone wants this", "I have no way to reach customers" or "nobody has paid me", try working through that task with Ted in Foundable. If both matter, the tools can work together. Choose based on the result you can verify, not a promise that either tool guarantees customers or revenue.
